Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Can we just come down and watch with the children? Is there an admission price to do this if so?
A. Spectators as always are FREE. Only those taking part in activities need to purchase tickets.
Q. I worry about parking. Is there anywhere nearby to park?
A. Parking will be tight and it is likely that the main car park will be full early. If possible, and you are local, please walk or cycle. If driving, parking is limited - ideally park in the public or overflow car park at the far side of Lake 12 off Station Road. There is a footpath linking back to the main entrance.
Q. Will tickets be available to purchase on the day?
A. This is a popular event in our calendar and tickets sold out last year. To guarantee admission, we highly recommend purchasing in advance.
Q. Do I have to book for activity times?
A. Yes - We have powerboat tours which are booked time slots - there are limited slots available are bookable on the day when you arrive..
Q. Can we bring our dog with us?
A. Well behaved dogs are more than welcome at SCO. As it is going to be a busy day, we ask that you keep them on leads at all times.
Q. Will you cancel if it is bad weather?
A. No way - We love this stuff no matter what the weather. Having said that, if we get a tornado or lightening storm, we will likely make an exception.
Q. What age are activities appropriate for?
A. The lake and land hunt is suotable for age 5+. Over 12's can take part without adult supearvision. Adult supervision is required for all under 12's. We would ask that at least one adult per boat goes out with them. Safety cover will be keeping an eye out for you.
Q. What boats do you use?
A. The hunt takes part in our doubel hulled Katakanus or rafted (two together) canoes. These are super stable, but do require a minimum of 4 people per boat to operate properly. If you are an individual or smaller group, we will pair you up with others on the water part of the hunt.
Q. Will wetsuits be available on the day?
A. Due to the number of people taking part and the type of activities on offer, we will not be hiring wetsuits on the day. All Boats used for the hunts on water are very stable and unlikey to capsize.
